Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know

Answers to the most common questions about our services, pricing, and policies.

Bartending & Alcohol

Do you provide the alcohol? +

No. Spirited Affairs does not hold a California liquor license, which means we cannot legally provide, sell, or serve alcohol to your guests. We operate on a host-provided bar model: you purchase and provide all alcoholic beverages, and we bring everything else—the bar, glassware, mixers, garnishes, and the professional expertise to craft exceptional drinks. This is the standard model for private event bartending in California and is fully compliant with state ABC regulations.

What if my venue has a liquor license? +

If your venue holds a valid liquor license, alcohol may be sold to your guests through the venue's licensed operation. In this case, we can work with the venue to coordinate bar service. We're happy to discuss the specifics of your venue during your consultation.

What exactly do you provide for the bar? +

We provide the mobile bar setup with Art Deco styling, all glassware (coupe, highball, rocks, wine), bar tools, non-alcoholic mixers and ingredients (juices, syrups, sodas, bitters), garnishes (citrus, herbs, olives, cherries), napkins, and a professional bartender. Depending on your package, we may also provide barbacks, cocktail servers, and additional bartenders for larger events.

How do I know how much alcohol to buy? +

We're happy to help! During your consultation, we'll discuss your guest count, drink preferences, and event duration, then provide a detailed shopping list with specific quantities and brands. This ensures you have exactly what you need without overspending. This consultation is included with all bartending packages.

Are your bartenders certified? +

Yes. Our bartenders hold RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) certification as required by California law. We are trained in responsible service practices, including checking IDs, recognizing intoxication, and refusing service when necessary. Your guests' safety is always our priority.

Service Area & Travel

What areas do you serve? +

We're based in Redding, California and serve all of Northern California—from Sacramento to the Oregon border. This includes Redding, Chico, Red Bluff, Mount Shasta, Eureka, Yreka, Susanville, Napa, Santa Rosa, and everywhere in between. If you're not sure whether we cover your area, just ask!

Is there a travel fee? +

Travel within 50 miles of Redding is included at no additional cost. For events beyond 50 miles, we charge $0.67 per mile round trip. For events more than 100 miles away that require an overnight stay, lodging costs are added at cost to your invoice. We'll always provide a complete quote upfront so there are no surprises.

How far in advance should I book? +

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for wedding dates during peak season (May through October). Popular dates can book 6-12 months in advance. That said, we do accommodate last-minute bookings when our schedule allows, so don't hesitate to reach out even if your event is coming up soon.

Pricing & Booking

How does the deposit and payment work? +

To reserve your date, we require a 25% non-refundable deposit based on your total package price. The remaining balance is due 14 days before your event. We accept payment via check, cash, or electronic transfer. Your deposit secures your date and is applied toward your total.

What is your cancellation policy? +

If you cancel 60 or more days before your event, you'll receive a 50% refund of amounts paid (the deposit remains non-refundable). Cancellations within 60 days of the event are non-refundable. In cases of genuine emergency or acts of nature, we work with clients on a case-by-case basis to find a fair resolution.

Can I customize a bundle or build my own package? +

Absolutely! Our signature bundles are designed to be convenient and offer built-in savings, but every event is unique. We're happy to customize any bundle or create a completely bespoke package tailored to your specific needs, guest count, and budget. Contact us for a personalized quote.

Are there any hidden fees? +

No. We believe in transparent pricing. Your quote will include all services, travel (if applicable), and any known additional costs. The only potential add-ons are overtime (if your event runs longer than contracted), additional staff (if you request more than initially quoted), and holiday premiums for specific dates. Everything is clearly outlined in your contract before you sign.

Do you offer payment plans? +

Yes! Beyond the 25% deposit and final balance, we can set up a customized payment schedule that works for your budget. Many of our clients choose to make monthly payments leading up to their event. Just let us know during your consultation and we'll create a plan that fits your needs.

Officiant & Photography

Is Matthew ordained? Can he legally marry us? +

Yes, Matthew is an ordained officiant authorized to perform legally binding marriage ceremonies in California. After your ceremony, we'll help ensure your marriage license is properly signed and filed with the appropriate county clerk's office. We'll guide you through the process so everything is handled correctly.

Can we write our own vows? +

Of course! We encourage it. Whether you want to write your vows entirely from scratch, adapt a traditional template, or have us craft something for you, the choice is yours. We can also incorporate readings, rituals, cultural traditions, and any other elements that are meaningful to you. Your ceremony should reflect who you are as a couple.

How many photos will we receive? +

It depends on your package and event duration, but typically: Quick Capture (4 hrs) delivers 200+ edited images, Classic Collection (8 hrs) delivers 500+ edited images, and Full Story (10 hrs) delivers 700+ edited images. All images are professionally edited and delivered through an online gallery where you can view, share, download, and order prints.

Do you carry insurance? +

Yes. Spirited Affairs carries general liability insurance, and we're happy to provide a certificate of insurance to your venue if required. Many venues require vendors to carry insurance, and we're prepared to meet those requirements. Just let us know during the booking process.
